1. Who Ronickher Law is and what this policy covers
Ronickher Law (“the Firm” and “it”) operates www.ronickherlaw.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information the Firm collects through the Site, how the Firm uses and shares it, and the choices you have.
This policy covers information collected through the Site only. Information you give the Firm after the Firm agree to represent you is governed by the Firm’s engagement agreement and by professional duties of confidentiality under the rules of professional conduct of California and the District of Columbia.
2. Information the Firm collects
Information you give the Firm. When you use the Firm’s contact form, email the Firm, or call the number listed on the Site, the Firm collects what you choose to provide. This typically includes:
- Name
- Email address
- Telephone number
- A description of your inquiry or legal matter, and the names of other parties involved
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, the Site and its hosting provider automatically receive certain technical information when you visit, including your IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, pages viewed, and the date and time of your visit.
The Firm does not knowingly collect sensitive information such as Social Security numbers or financial account numbers through the Site, and you should not submit such information.
3. How the Firm uses information
The Firm uses the information it collects to:
- Respond to your inquiry and communicate with you;
- Check for conflicts of interest before discussing a matter or accepting a representation;
- Schedule consultations;
- Operate, secure, and improve the Site; and
- Comply with legal and professional obligations.
The Firm does not use information submitted through the Site for advertising, and it does not sell it.
4. How the Firm shares information
The Firm does not sell or rent personal information, and it does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. The Firm shares it only with:
- Service providers that host or support the Site and the Firm’s practice, such as its web host, email, and productivity provider (Microsoft 365). They may use the information only to provide services to the Firm.
- Others at your direction, such as co-counsel or experts on your matter, with your consent.
- Legal and safety recipients, when required by law, court order, or applicable rules of professional conduct, or to protect the rights or safety of the Firm or others.
- A successor, if the Firm’s practice is sold, merged, or transferred, subject to the Firm’s professional obligations.
5. Cookies, analytics, and Do Not Track
The Site uses cookies that are needed for it to function. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; the Site will still work.
Third-party tracking. The Firm does not allow third parties to collect personally identifiable information about your online activities over time and across different websites when you use the Site.
Do Not Track. Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is no common standard for responding to these signals, the Site does not currently respond to them.
6. No attorney-client relationship
Contacting the Firm through the Site, by email, or by phone does not create an attorney-client relationship. A relationship is formed only when the Firm has checked for conflicts and both you and the Firm have signed an engagement agreement.
Please do not send confidential or time-sensitive information until the Firm has specifically requested that information from you. The Firm treats inquiries from prospective clients with care, but information sent before an engagement may not be protected in the same way as client communications.
Email and web forms are not fully secure. If you prefer, call the Firm at (202) 953-1957 instead.
7. Retention, security, and your choices
Retention. The Firm keeps inquiries from people who do not become clients as long as needed to check for conflicts of interest and meet professional obligations. Client information is kept as the Firm’s engagement agreement and professional rules require.
Security. The Firm uses reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Children. The Site is not directed to children under 13, and the Firm does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Reviewing and correcting your information. You may ask to review, correct, or delete personal information you submitted through the Site by contacting the Firm at privacy@ronickherlaw.com. The Firm will respond within a reasonable time, subject to its legal and professional obligations to retain certain records.
State privacy rights. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state law. The Firm will honor requests as required by applicable law.
8. Changes and contact
The Firm may update this policy. When it does, the Firm will post the revised version on this page and change the effective date at the top. If the Firm makes material changes to how it uses personal information, it will update this policy with the new effective date.
